Schedules Shots for Oklahomans

The Health Department currently has no

telephone enrollment available.

(January 10, 2021) Oklahomans can register online immediately for a COVID-19 vaccination and be notified by the Health Department as soon as vaccine becomes available for their age or occupation or health situation.

The website, www.vaccinate.oklahoma.gov, opened on January 7, 2021. Within 48 hours, 270,000 Oklahomans had registered, the Health Department reported, about half of them currently eligible for the vaccine.

About 110,000 shots have been administered statewide since vaccine distribution began a few weeks ago.

Currently, the nearest vaccination site to Love County is the Ardmore Convention Center, 2401 N. Rockford Rd., with an all-day clinic (10 a.m.-6 p.m.) on Tuesdays. So far in January, the only patients declared eligible for the vaccine are first responders, healthcare workers, and Oklahomans age 65 and over.

Registering for the COVID-19 vaccine involves two steps.

·         First, open www.vaccinate.oklahoma.gov and fill out the online registration questionnaire. Step one ends. Log off.  Wait for a  follow-up e-mail from the Health Department confirming  successful registration. This may take up to 24 hours.

·         Second, at the time vaccine becomes available for the
user's age or occupation or health situation, the
Health Department will notify the user by email. The user
may then click on a link provided in the email to sign up for a
specific vaccination day that is offered. Keep returning
to the link until successfully signed up.

Those without Internet access are encouraged to ask a “tech savvy” family member or friend  to help them enroll on the portal. The Health Department currently has no telephone enrollment available.

Meantime, free COVID-19 tests are available by calling the Love County Health Department at 276-2531.

To protect oneself and others from spreading COVID-19, the Health Department recommends wearing a mask, keeping a distance of six feet, and washing hands frequently.

Love County has experienced another surge of infections the past three weeks. Tests showed 305 new cases in the period December 21, 2020 through January 10. On that date, total cases stood at 1,106 since the start of the pandemic last March.  Seven residents have died.
