Nursing Department Works 'Round the Clock

The nursing department works around the clock to care for and comfort patients and their family members. Every patient in the hospital or emergency room receives professional nursing services, whether their stay is for minutes or weeks. Marie Ross, R.N., Director of Nursing, supervises this department, which has 20 coworkers. Meet three of them: 


Kathryn Porter Miller, R.N.
Has 12 years in the department, and leads
the nursing floor as Charge Nurse. Spent 13
prior years in emergency room, intensive
care, home health care, and nursing agency.
Once took time out to work for a restaurant
but concluded,  “Nursing calls you back.”
Raised in the area, is a graduate of
Turner High School.

 
Joyce Dewbre Lantz (left) has been a Registered Nurse since 1996, the 
last eight here. She became interested in nursing after watching a home
health nurse (now colleague Luann Locke) care for her dying father. She
also holds a business degree and works in the accountability area of 
medication management. Raised in Love County, is a graduate of
Turner High School.

Judy Sanchez-Fernandez (right) Her 10 years’ experience has included
interpretation for Spanish speakers and clinic nurse. Currently registers
patients in the ER and laboratory. Holds an associate of science
degree from Murray State College and will continue studies to become
an RN. “Patient care and responding to the emotional needs of
people in the ER is part of me.” Graduated from Marietta High School
in 2003.
