For the convenience of southern Oklahoma pilots and truck drivers, the Rural Health Clinic of Mercy Health/Love County Hospital in Marietta now offers physical examinations assessing their medical fitness to fly or drive.
"We are very pleased to announce that our clinic has providers certified to perform Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examinations," said Connie Barker, clinic director. "We are the only clinic in a wide area of the state offering both services."
The Rural Health Clinic adjoins Mercy Health/Love County Hospital at 301 Wanda St., Marietta, telephone (580) 276-2400.
A DOT physical examination is required of interstate commercial motor vehicle drivers and is valid for up to 24 months. Drivers must select an examiner certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Registry.
At the Marietta clinic, Dr. Stephen Hutchins, M.D., Patricia C. Owens, APRN, and Rhonda Mose, APRN-CNP, are FMCSA certified.
Dr. Paul Nioce, M.D., is a certified FAA Aviation Medical Examiner. He is authorized to issue second class (commercial pilot) and third class (student, recreational, and private pilot) medical certificates.
