Laboratory Professionals Celebrate 'CSI' Skills

Posted on Friday, April 25th, 2014

Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, April 20-26, is an annual celebration of the nation's laboratory professionals and pathologists.  They play a vital role in every aspect of health care.

Since they often work behind the scenes, few people know about the critical laboratory testing and interpreting they perform every day.

"The doctors are Batman and Robin. We're CSI," says Elmer Denoso of Mercy Health/Love County, where 40,000 laboratory tests will be performed this year.

Christa Kirby, ASCP.  Joined the
laboratory in April with 15 years of
hospital, clinic, and independent
laboratory experience. Holds a
bachelor of science degree from
Southeastern and certification from
the American Society of Clinical
Pathologists. A daughter has followed
her into the field as a medical
technologist.
