Mercy Health/Love County Hospital welcomes Andrea Bean, PA-C. The Physician Assistant joined the emergency department on November 8, 2021.
“Andie” grew up in Dickson. She says she already feels at home in the small town hospital and is happy to be relocating to Southern Oklahoma after 20 years away. She played basketball for Dickson High School and graduated in 1997. She then pursued extensive education in the health field, becoming both a clinician and a professor in Oklahoma City.
“I am a nurturer. I like to take care of people. I also like science and the mystery of figuring out a disease,” she said of her pursuits. Bean treats patients coming into the emergency room, whether needing routine or emergent care. In medical crises, she stabilizes patients for immediate transfer to a higher-level medical service.
For the prior nine years, Bean saw patients in the family medicine clinic at OU Health while also teaching in the physician assistant programs of OU and Oklahoma City University. She holds several degrees from the University of Oklahoma, including a bachelor of biomedical science (2003), a master of public health (2006), and a master of health science (2013). She earned her Physician Assistant credential from OU in 2012.
